The e-bike tuning chip for Bosch Smart System Motors SX + Rim Magnet

SpeedBox 1.5 for Bosch allows you to remove the speed limiter on your e-bike.

How does SpeedBox 1.5 for Bosch work?

To correctly activate all SpeedBox functions, after installation and the first power-up of your e-bike, enter the menu and check or set the wheel circumference (required for older firmware versions).

Activate or deactivate the tuning only when stationary, never while riding!

You can activate the SpeedBox 1.5 directly from your e-bike’s control unit by briefly activating the WALK assist function (holding down the “-” button). The display will show 3.5 km/h (2.2 mph) – from that moment, you can ride up to 35 km/h or more. You can adjust the speed limit up to 99 km/h, but we recommend not exceeding 35 km/h to reduce the risk of error codes.

To deactivate the tuning, briefly activate WALK assist again (hold down “-”). The display will show 2.5 km/h (1.6 mph) and the limit will return to 25 km/h. Your e-bike will then work exactly as before installation.

If your e-bike doesn’t have the WALK assist function enabled, you can activate/deactivate tuning by switching between two assistance modes twice (press - + - +).

You can set the maximum speed limit by switching from TURBO mode three levels down and then three levels up: eMTB → TOUR+ → ECO → TOUR+ → eMTB → TURBO. The current limit will be displayed. You can also change it by briefly activating WALK assist or turning the rear wheel 360°. Display values: 2.5 km/h = 25 km/h, 3.0 = 30 km/h, 3.5 = 35 km/h, etc. The last value will be saved after 15 seconds of inactivity.

After finishing your ride, leave the e-bike on until 0.0 km/h appears. During this countdown, the remaining time will be shown. Then it’s safe to turn off your e-bike. Don’t remove the display before SpeedBox finishes the countdown.

Assembly

We use original connectors to ensure simple and correct installation. We’ve prepared detailed manuals and videos to make the process easy. Disassembly is just as simple. If you encounter any issues during installation or removal, please contact us.

If you’re installing SpeedBox on a brand-new e-bike, make sure you’ve ridden at least 10 km before activating the tuning for the first time.

Important

Connect male and female connectors in the direction of the lock. Do not rotate the connectors during connection!

E-bikes equipped with SpeedBox are not allowed on public roads, cycle paths or public areas – they may only be used on private property and entirely at your own risk. Using SpeedBox may void your e-bike’s warranty.

We strongly recommend using proper protective gear and safety accessories.

Do not update your e-bike firmware – doing so increases the risk of tuning detection. Please disable automatic updates in the eBike Flow App.

The SpeedBox warranty does not cover malfunctions caused by firmware updates.

When stopping briefly, keep one foot on the pedal to prevent the countdown from starting. For longer stops, allow at least partial countdown completion. After longer rides, the countdown may take several minutes. Do not remove the display before it finishes. Always activate/deactivate tuning only when stationary. We recommend not exceeding 35 km/h.
